Plane needing emergency landing in Jeddah owned by MAS?

JEDDAH, 12 Sept: A video was uploaded on social media by users in Saudi Arabia showing a plane needing to make an emergency landing on a highway went viral on social media.

Citing a report from Facebook, the plane made an emergency landing at the side of the road in Jeddah and this was confirmed by the King Abdul Aziz International Airport spokesperson.

It is understood that the plane made an emergency landing as there was a strong sand storm that hit the area and the tail of the airplane also prominently displayed the Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) logo.

Malaysia Airlines, in a statement, said that they cannot confirm the validity of the video that went viral on social media.

They said that all Malaysia Airlines planes have landed Jeddah safely.

Following a sand storm in Jeddah, all planes were directed by the ATC to move to the aircraft parking area.
