National leaders should use official language, not ‘rojak’

SHAH ALAM, 5 Aug: The country’s leaders should not use ‘rojak’ language in presenting their speeches and instead choose the appropriate language for the audience and the council.

This was expressed by the Deputy Director (Research), Academy of Civilisation, Dr Mohammad Alinor Abdul Kadir when asked to comment on the incident using a mixture of English and Malay language while speaking at a function organised by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) by Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah ,

“Such a situation should not have occurred.

“He should use the language he is fluent in, rather than English or Malay,” he told the Selangor Kini.

Quoting The Malaysian Insider yesterday, Ahmad Husni did so when telling of his experiences growing up in Ipoh and being helped by non-Malays in Mathematics.

This style was repeated at the end of his speech and he did so once again when advising the attendees who were made up of mainly students from Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools.
