Selangor PKR sends report on RM2.6 billion issue to MACC

SHAH ALAM, 7 Aug: The Selangor PKR Election Committee today sent a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding the latest developments of the RM2.6 billion that was allegedly transferred to the account of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Selangor Exco, Amirudin Shari, who led the PKR delegation, said that the report was made based on the statement issued by the MACC on August 3 and Acts as provided in the MACC Act 2009.

“In our research, Section 3 of the MACC Act 2009 states that rewards in the form of donations can also be defined as bribery for favours.

“However, Section 50 of the Act provides that if an evidence is accepted, then it must be considered as inducement or reward for corruption as alleged,” he told the media at the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) lobby.

MACC, on August 3, said that the RM2.6 billion that was allegedly transferred to Najib’s account is a donation.

Amirudin said that the MACC should be given space to investigate as fairly as possible to ensure that there is justice and that no one can be above the law and the constitution in the country.
