The Executive Councillor in charge of Local Government, Studies and Research, Datuk Teng Chang Khim, said that these efforts include establishing a State Government Cash Management Committee to help the state government manage excess cash more efficiently.

He said that this approach, through quit rent collection, will also be intensified with the implementation of the Land Revenue Collection Integrated Operations (Ops Kutip), with the cooperation of the Selangor State Treasury, District Offices, the Selangor Land and Mines Office, and the State Government Secretary (SUK) Information Technology Department.

“The state government, primarily through the District/Land Office, will constantly strive to improve quit rent collection through several methods, which is; to identify and isolate all problematic (outstanding) ownership so that follow-up action can be taken, in addition to adding methods of payment at local authority counters.

“The state government also seeks to address the backlog of quit rent revenue by setting-up a Quit Rent Arrears Management Committee to holistically implement the collection of outstanding quit rent, involving rigid and proprietary solutions involved in the land problem in all District/Land Offices,” he said.
