Four independent Chinese schools receive RM2 million aid

SHAH ALAM, 16 Oct: Four independent Chinese schools received a check worth RM2 million from the state government yesterday.

The Exco for Education, Human Capital Development, Technology and Innovation, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, said that they are in the effort of improving the quality of state education by helping provide more conducive school environments for learning.

“The donation was given as a tribute to Private Schools for state development and producing quality human capital.

“I was impressed with the character of Kwang Hwa as an educational institution, and I was reminded of traditional Islamic schools, Catholic schools and public British schools,” he said.

He said this when presenting the check at the Kwang Huw Private Secondary School in Taman Eng Ann, Klang.

In addition to assistance to private schools, Nik Nazmi said that similar assistance will be extended to higher education institutions.

He said that among the steps taken is to recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) at the state level, the University of Selangor (UNISEL) and the Selangor Islamic University College (KUIS).

“KUIS also begun to recognise the UEC in several programmes,” he said.

Also present at the ceremony was the Exco for Investment, Industry and Trade, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Transport, Teng Chang Kim, and the Exco for Poverty, Caring Government and Estate Workers, V Ganabathirau.
