SHAH ALAM, 6 Sept: Selangor’s Air Pollution Index (API) improved with several areas recording a moderate API.
The Department of Environment (DOE) showed that Banting recorded a moderate reading of 58, Port Klang (63) and Shah Alam (54) as of 11 am today.
Overall, the 26 areas recorded good and 24 temperate regions.
The DOE categorised API readings at 0-50 as good, 51-100 as moderate, 101-200 as unhealthy, 201-300 as very unhealthy and 301 and above is categorised as dangerous.
People have been advised to refrain from open burning due to the recent haze.
The public has also been urged to put out small fires caused by the hot weather and report to the Fire Department and DOE Rescuers at 1-800-88-2727.
