Home purchase deposit funding programme in Budget 2016

SHAH ALAM, 23 Aug: The Selangor government Housing Exco, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, is confident that the deposit funding programme of 10 percent of the house price bought by Selangorians can be included in the Budget 2016.

He said that a special committee under his portfolio is working hard at the moment to complete studies before it is tabled at the State Government Exco meeting before it can be tabled in the Budget 2016.

“Many are interested in purchasing Selangorku homes but have the problem of coming up with the deposit and there are some that find difficulty in getting bank loans.

“To solve this problem, we will first buy the house in the Selangorku Housing Financing Scheme (Dana-Sel) and rent it to them until they can afford it.

“For the second phase, we propose for the state government to pay the 10 percent deposit. The proposal will be included after this,” Iskandar told Selangor Kini.

He said this after attending the Selangorku Housing Registration and Launching Ceremony in Setia Alam in Bandar Setia Alam.

Prior to that, Iskandar at the same event said that many are interested in buying Selangorku Homes but failed to obtain loans due to the strict requirement set by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

Therefore, he explained that the state government is carrying out a variety of efforts to come up with various schemes to maximise the chances of the people of the state in owning their own homes.

In addition to the hire-purchase that will be extended to buyers of affordable housing with the additional allocation from RM10 million to RM20 million, the state government will also be the guarantor to buyers to obtain bank loans.
