CM blames Minister of failing to differentiate ‘donation’ of RM2.6 billion with investment

SHAH ALAM, 22 Aug: The Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, was blamed for failing to distinguish between the RM2.6 billion donation received by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, from undisclosed donors with the Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG).

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that such questions should be directed to Abdul Rahman himself.

“RM2.6 billion was donations, this (DEIG) is investment. If you do not understand, do not ask me, as him,” said Mohamed Azmin to reporters during a press conference at the Selangorku Housing Registration and Launching Ceremony in Setia Alam today.

Earlier, during the 13th Selangor State Assembly Third Session Second Meeting 2015 that ended on Thursday, the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) was given a lengthy explanation about the issue of the establishment of DEIG.

Mohamed Azmin, when replying the questions put forward by the DNS members, explained that DEIG has five board members consisting of the Chief Minister, the State Government Secretary, the State Financial Officer, MBI Chief Executive Officer and the MBI Chief Operations Officer.

He also described the allegations of mismanagement of funds in DEIG as a malicious lie because until now the company has yet to commence operations.

He said that until now DEIG does not own any assets thus no transactions can be made.
