SELAYANG, 22 Aug: Support for the reduction of polystyrene is being intensified through the distribution of food and beverage containers to the staff of the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS).
MPS Corporate Director, Mohamad Zin Masoad, said that it is to raise awareness among employees so as to be more sensitive to environmental care in and outside the office.
“The practice of reducing the use of polystyrene must be nurtured slowly among MPS staff and the community because most food-related activities would surely use polystyrene,” he said in a statement.
He said that the implementation of the programme is also in line with the launch of the No Plastic Bag and Polystyrene Day at the MPS level every Wednesday.
“The use of food containers came into effect on August 17 through the brainchild of the MPS Yang Dipertua,” he said.
