20 private dialysis panels appointed to help patients

SHAH ALAM, 18 Aug: 20 Selangor Health Dialysis panels have been appointed to help less fortunate kidney patients obtain treatment.

The Exco for Health, Welfare, Women and Family Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that this is a result of strategic partnership between the state government and private dialysis centres in Selangor.

She said that the strategy is more effective and convenient compared to the state government establishing and managing its own dialysis centre.

“The state government and the Selangor Health Department have chosen, visited and audited private dialysis centres that comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Health (MOH) and appointed them as the Selangor Health Dialysis panel.

“The symbolism of the appointment will be held in September,” she said when answering a verbal question from Mohd Khairuddin Othman (PAS-Paya Jaras) at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS).

At the same time, Daroyah (PKR-Sementa) said that the Selangor Health Dialysis panel has to go through appointment requirements before being eligible to be chosen.

Among them, it must be in Selangor, have valid operating license issued by MOH, have at least three free spaces, is clean and conducive and registered in the Selangor Government Electronic Payment System (SPEK).

“The state government plans to appoint more private dialysis centres to become the panel in the future, however they must comply with the conditions and specifications set by the Selangor Health Department and MOH,” she said.

In addition, she said that all operating expenses and patient treatment is under the dialysis centre without any allocation from the state government.

However, she said through the Selangor Health Assistance, 852 patients with a total allocation of RM1.6644 million have received benefits since 2010.

“Each recipient received between RM2,000 to RM5,000 depending on the cost of treatment applied for,” she said.
