MBPJ organises seminar to overcome traffic congestion

SHAH ALAM, 17 Aug: The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will be organising the Creating Streets for People Seminar and Workshop to provide the best method to overcome traffic congestion.

The MBPJ Deputy Mayor, Anuar Johary, said as a result of rapid development, MBPJ is formulating a pedestrian-friendly concept to transit stations to reduce congestion and air pollution.

“The Seminar and Workshop is to obtain information in implementing pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths through participants who present papers.

“A total of 300 participants are estimated from MBPJ’s internal departments, the Local Authority Technical Department, Malaysian Institute of Planner (MIP) members, Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM), Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and many more,” he said during the press conference on the Creating Streets for People Seminar and Workshop today.

Anuar said that the seminar will be held for two days from August 26 to 27 at the MBPJ Civic Hall.

“It is scheduled to be launched by the Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, at the Launching Ceremony for the Petaling Jaya Transport Planning Information System on August 26.

“Participants will be provided information by Chel Architect from Copenhagen Denmark that specialises in integrating public transport and motor-less driving,” he said.
