Selangor PAS continues to administer branch without leaders

SHAH ALAM, 19 Aug: The administration of any area of branch of the Selangor PAS will be continued even though some party members are expected to resign.

Commissioner, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that it is being taken over by the State Liaison Body for the smooth administration of the party.

He said that this was also approved by the party’s Secretary-Generala because it can be done in line with the PAS Constitution, Article 26 (9)j.

“The clause allows internal party disputes to be settled, suspend, dissolve and take over any PAS Liaison Body in the state or province, area and branch by appointing a temporary Administrative Committee.

“The committee has the power of the committee taken over according to this constitution for a specified period of time,” he said at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) lobby today.

Iskandar said that there have also been discussions at the grassroots level to select a leader suitable to manage the branch.

He said that the number of PAS Selangor members will also smooth the administrative process in addition to mobilising the area or branch involved.

“There are nearly 1,000 PAS branches and almost 100,000 PAS members in Selangor, so we have no problem in continuing the party administration.

“‘It is not burdensome,” he said.

This evening, a special press conference was held at the Kota Raja Parliament to announce the resignation at the branch and areas.

In addition to resigning, nine PAS branches are expected to be dissolved in Kota Raja today when all the committee members joined Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB).
