SHAH ALAM, 5 Oct: The former Chief Minister of Malacca, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, today pleaded not guilty at the Shah Alam Sessions Court under the Sedition Act 1948 regarding the Selangor Raja Muda defamation case.
Rahim was allowed bail of RM7,000 with one guarantor, reported theSundaily.
Prior to this, Rahim, on Facebook, claimed that the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, converted to Catholicism to provoke dissatisfaction, and then subsequently withdrew the post.
Following the statement, the Selangor Royal Council denied the allegations and expressed regret and condemned the act as defamation, sedition and malicious.
On October 2, the Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, said that investigation against Rahim was done and they were waiting further action from the Attorney General.
