Applications for Young Assemblymen programme open until 23 August

SHAH ALAM, 3 AUG: Students and youths have the opportunity again to experience debating in the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) through the Selangor Young Assemblymen programme for the second session this year.

The DNS Speaker’s Special Officer, Joyce Chow, said that registration is open to students aged 18 to 24 from public and private higher education institutions, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), local youth movements (PeBT) and student associations.

She said that 56 youths will be selected to participate in the programme and represent each constituency in the DNS.

“Through this programme, graduates are encouraged to enhance their critical thinking skills regarding government policies and get to know Selangor assemblymen more closely,” she said in a statement.

The application period will be open for three weeks from 3 to 23 August.

Those interested in participating in the programme are required to apply online at dewan.selangor.gov.my.

The selection panel will comprise of the DNS Speaker, Hannah Yeoh, Mohd Shafie Ngah and State Exco, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

Election results will be announced on the official DNS website, dewan.selangor.gov.my, on 27 August.
