MPSJ becomes first local authority to receive Green World Ambassador 2015

SUBANG JAYA, 30 June: The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) emerged as the first local authority in Malaysia to be awarded the Green World Ambassador 2015 award in the United Kingdom.

The MPSJ Corporate Communications Officer, Muhammad Azli Miswan, said that this was due to the hard work by the local authority in forming the Green City Action Plan 2030, in addition to introducing green initiatives.

“Last year, MPSJ won the Green Apple Environment Award through the implementation of green initiatives and the Biomass MPSJ.

“It was a double success for MPSJ in the effort to implement various green initiatives, thus winning the Green World Ambassador award,” he said in a statement.

The award ceremony took place at Leicester Square, London, United Kingdom, and was attended by the MPSJ Yang Dipertua, Datuk Nor HIsham Ahmad Dahlan, on June 29.

The Green organisation is an independent body established in 1994 to encourage and recognise environmental preservation practices around a society, organisation, non-governmental organisation (NGO), the private sector and governments around the world.

As the Green World Ambassador, MPSJ’s green initiatives through the My Biomass Way project will be published in The Green Book to provide an opportunity for professionals to learn from the experience and the local authority’s expertise in implementing this.
