JAIS welcomes celebrity opening of religious schools

SHAH ALAM, 22 Jun: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) welcomes the efforts of local celebrities to involve themselves in religious education, including the establishment of religious schools.

The Senior Assistant Director of the JAIS School Management Unit, Dr Mohd Kamal Radiman, said anyone can set up a private school in compliance with set requirements and regulations.

He said that so far, about 185 registered religious schools were registered under JAIS.

“I am thankful that there are celebrities who are keen to be involved in religious education. We are welcoming if there are any among them who share the same desire,” he said during the Tahfiz Centre Registration Truth Programme at the JAIS office today.

During the programme, the vocalist from Search, Suhaimi Abdul Rahman, 57, or Amy, received registration approval for the Tahfiz school owned by him, the Al-Bayan School Of Quran & Hadith at Sungai Buloh.

In addition to Amy, ’80s actor, Azmil Mustapha, also submitted an application to register a Tahfiz school.

At the same time, Mohd Kamal said that JAIS will conduct periodical monitoring to ensure that the school’s learning syllabus is correct and according to current times.

“I hope that the effort to open this Tahfiz school will continue and become the focus of communities across Selangor,” he said.
