Food poisoning: Ramadan bazaar licences will be retracted

SHAH ALAM, 9 June: Aspects of hygiene, health and food care at Ramadan bazaars are a priority to the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) to avoid any cases of poisoning.

The Acting Deputy Secretary of MBSA, Rosli Bakar, said that hygiene priority is given attention because there are cases of food poisoning at Ramadan bazaars reported in Shah Alam last year.

“Traders are advised to take care of food hygiene and the stalls, whether the food is prepared at home or at the stalls, because the poisoning is identified at the processing site.

“They will be more affected if there is food poisoning because they will not be allowed to continue business. Other traders who sell the same type of food will also be affected,” he said during the launching of the Ramadan Bazaar Hawking Permit Presentation and Briefing Ceremony 2015 today.

Rosli said that MBSA will enhance continuous monitoring at Ramadan bazaars to ensure that the hawkers comply with the rules and regulations.

“The Licensing and Enforcement Department, the Environmental Health Department and also the Solid Waste and Public Cleaning Management Department will continue to monitor cleanliness of food and beverage operations,” he said.
