Tanjong Karang PPAS to become a full library

SHAH ALAM, 19 June: The Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) building in Tanjong Karang is being renovated to become a full library.

The PPAS Director, Mastura Mohamad, said that the move began with a few renovations to the ground floor of the building.

“We are repairing in stages and this process can only be carried out after the tenants agreed to move recently.

“However, it will take time because a lot of work has to be done as the building is rather old and there are damages,” she told Selangor Kini.

Mastura said that PPAS will shut down building operations for two weeks and is expected to end in June.

She said that after this the library will be moved to the ground floor and the building will be fully operational after all the work is completed.

“The Tanjong Karang PPAS is a building over 25 years of age that is being rented to a private party for the ground and second floor.

“We will be requesting additional funds from the state government under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) for this purpose,” she said.

She hopes that the people, especially in Tanjong Karang, understand and is satisfied with the efforts by PPAS to provide better library facilities.

“The rebranding of libraries in Selangor started a few years ago and involved over 20 libraries.

“Part of it is through the process of reconstruction and upgrading,” she said.
