Selangor government channels RM150,000 to help victims of Sabah quake

SHAH ALAM, 7 June: The Selangor government channeled humanitarian aid amounting to RM150,000 to the earthquake victims in Sabah.

The Exco for Health, Welfare, Family and Women’s Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that the assistance will be channeled directly to the victims involved.

“We are identifying agencies involved such as non-governmental organisations (NGOs) involved there because they have the victims’ data.

“After obtaining the date, we will channel the aid as soon as possible to victims in need,” said Dr Daroyah to Selangor Kini.

He explained that the secretariat for the aid will ensure that the aid is channeled to citizens only.

Dr Daroyah added that parties involved will also be directed to check the damages to the homes of residents caused by the tremours of the earthquake to identify the appropriate forms of assistance.

Meanwhile, in related development, the Kajang Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will go to Sabah tomorrow to meet and personally look into the conditions of the disaster that happened.
