Mat Sabu: Find a way of tolerance, keep non-Muslim support

SHAH ALAM, 2 June: The Deputy President of PAS, Mohamad Sabu, today asked the leadership and members to find a way of tolerance to keep moral in maintaining long-lasting support from non-Muslims towards the party.

He said that PAS should choose a path of democracy rather than to fight to achieve the common goal with Pakatan Rakyat in burying Barisan Nasional (BN).

“We need to find, peel and analyse on what is weak but to not so that the action seemingly drives non-Muslims from continuing to vote PAS in the next general election.

“Find the highest tolerance while not destroying faith, allowed by the Syura Council and not conflicting with goals and policies,” he said.

He said this when delivering the opening speech at the 56th PAS Youth Conference at the Silver Jubilee Hall today.

Mohamad, who is fondly known as Mat Sabu, said that PAS should look at the achievements of past leaders before convincing non-Muslim voters to support the party’s struggle.

“The 2013 election saw general support for us. Our candidate from the DUN and Parliament received a rather comfortable victory as a result of their strong support.

“Our opponent (BN) is biting their fingers looking at public support, including non-Muslims in the city and suburbs for PAS, is getting stronger,” he said.
