SHAH ALAM, 2 June: The history of PAS’ defeat in the 1986 general election may repeat if they party chooses to move alone without Pakatan Rakyat.
The PAS Youth Chief, Suhaizan Kaiat, asked the youth to defend the consensus built with PKR and DAP despite there being voices asking PAS to move alone.
“It is very important that we maintain Pakatan Rakyat from being destroyed from within.
“Have we forgotten when PAS only had 1 parliamentary seat in the 1986 general election despite contesting for 98 seats in parliament.
“Do we want to repeat the moment when we were weak and oppressed,” he said.
He said this when delivering the keynote address in the 56th PAS Youth Conference at the Silver Jubilee Hall today.
Thus, Shuhaizan asked all delegates to take the opportunity of the conference this time to determine the new leadership line-up that is fresh to shape the future of the country.
“Choose a leader who can bring the PAS Youth forward with fresh ideas in the congregation and country.
“Use thought that is illuminated by knowledge and not use sentiments in making this important decision,” he said.
