PKR being busy campaigning does not affect the work of Excos & Assemblymen

BUKIT MERTAJAM, 1 May: Despite being busy with their primary responsibilities in the Selangor government, the Chief Minister and his Excos are able to assist the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) election machinery in the Permatang Pauh by-election.

The Selangor Exco for Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment, Elizabeth Wong, said that apart from Excos from PKR, PAS and DAP Excos are also helping in the campaign to ensure victory for their candidate, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

“So far, many are here. In addition to the Chief Minister, me, Amiruddin, Dr Daroyah, and even Zaidy from PAS and Ganabatirau, DAP, have also come.

“Only some Excos such as Nik Nazmi, who just came home from his pilgrimage, and Excos that have to settle important tasks have not yet come,” said Elizabeth when met by Selangor Kini at the compound of the PKR Main Operations Room at the Yayasan Aman Hall today.

Elizabeth added that Dr Wan Azizah herself, despite being busy campaigning, is still carrying out her duties as the Kajang Assemblyman.

She explained that it can be seen as Dr Wan Azizah monitors the flooded area in Kajang the solution to the problem.

However, he said that irresponsible parties have slandered her by saying that she does not care about flood victims because she is busy campaigning.

“Even after that, Dr Daroyah went to check that the people are given due attention,” added Elizabeth.

Meanwhile, the Exco for Health, Welfare, Women and Family Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that provocation triggered against Wan Azizah by the opponent is deliberate to sway Wan Azizah’s focus in campaigning for the Permatang Pauh by-election.

“However, some problems came up when residents deliberately said that their homes were also affected but in fact were not.

“The state government is aware and has directed government agencies, together with the Hulu Langat District Office, to donate to 88 families of flood victims in Kampung Sungai Jernih and Batu 13 and 14 today,” she said in a press statement.
