CM: “DASH? I receive instructions from the people”

KUALA SELANGOR, 27 Apr: The Damansara-Shah Alam Highway project will only be approved if it is accepted by all residents of the area.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that he does not have the right to give consent regarding the highway project if the residents continue to protest.

He said that this is in line with the new policy of the Selangor government which listens to the needs of the people.

“I ask the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and the Public Works Department (JKR) to meet with the residents and tell them before the state government can approve the project.

“Who am I to decide on whether to agree or not? I receive instructions from the people.

“Just like the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (KIDEX) issue, if they do not want it, then no,” he said after visiting the Tarbiyah Islamiyah Al-Ansar Institute this evening.

Mohamed Azmin said that the residents of the area do not object to the construction of DASH, however they want final adjustments to be done to the highway to be modified.

He said that LLM also informed that a new alignment has been prepared and will be presented to the residents there.

“I cannot compare KIDEX with DASH because they totally objected to the KIDEX but they agree to the DASH, only the final alignment needs to be fixed.

“I have met the minister and LLM and asked them to show a new alignment because they do not have to convince me, but it needs to be done for the people.” he said.
