RM20 million loan to buy low-cost housing

RAWANG, 15 May: A fund worth RM20 million will be provided to help low-income earners buy low-cost houses in Selangor.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that it is expected to help those who are unable to obtain housing loans from financial institutions to own their own homes.

“There are some who want to own low-cost houses worth RM42,000 but failed to obtain a loan,” he said during the M Residence 2 Selangorku Homes Ground-breaking and Registration today.

He said that this is because Bank Negara has tighten monetary and fiscal policies in the country, including housing loans for banks and financial institutions.

“We are aware that the country’s household debt is very worrying and there should be efforts to prevent the debt from swelling and expanding.

“If no serious action is taken, this will affect the country’s economy,” said Mohamed Azmin.
