RM236,000 to repair the collapsed bridge in Pulau Ketam

SHAH ALAM, 21 Apr: RM236,000 has been allocated to rebuild the bridge in Sungai Satu, Pulau Ketam.

The Exco for Local Government, Ean Yong Hian Wah, said that the other bridge that collapsed in Bagan Teochew will be rebuilt.

“We are still waiting for the cost estimates from the Klang Land and District Office before issuing provisions.

“Both will be built as soon as possible for the convenience of the residents,” he told Selangor Kini.

Earlier, he was accompanied by the Selat Kelang Assemblyman, Dr Halimah Ali, when he visited the over 30-year-old bridge.

Meanwhile, Halimah hopes that the state government can look at the infrastructural needs in Pulau Ketam as a whole.

“Hopefully, adequate development provisions can be discussed with the federal government to develop Pulau Ketam as a tourist destination,” he said.

The bridge in Bagan Teochew, which is the main connection route for residents to go into town, collapsed on April 18 due to age.
