The state government expresses condolences on the tragic helicopter crash and the passing of Anwar Ibrahim’s father

SHAH ALAM, 5 Apr: The state government expresses sympathy and condolences in relation to the helicopter tragedy yesterday and the passing of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s father.

Speaking at a press conference, the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the people of Selangor are saddened by both news.

“Condolences to Anwar Ibrahim’s family, Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarkis (Rompin Member of Parliament, Datuk Azlin Alias (Prime Minister’s Chief Secretary) and other victims involved.

“May their souls be placed among His righteous servants,” he said after the opening ceremony and registration of Selangorku Homes in Alam Budiman this morning.

After the press conference, Mohamed Azmin immediately rushed to Kajang to attend the funeral that was scheduled after the Zuhur.

Yesterday afternoon, Jamaluddin and Azlin, as well as four other passengers, died in the crash near Semenyih, believed to be on the way home from Pekan Pahang.

Early this morning, Anwar’s father, Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, passed away due to breathing problems.

Anwar was granted release from prison to attend his father’s funeral at Country Heights Kajang.

He was greeted by his daughter, Nurul Nuha, when he reached home at 10.40 am with an officer from the Sungai Buloh Prison.
