GST: ‘Living is hard, dying is harder’

SHAH ALAM, 1 Apr: ‘Living is hard, dying is harder’ was portrayed by Dr Yaakob Sapari (PKR-Kota Anggerik) about the lives of the people under the leadership of Barisan Nasional with the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST).

He said that the living conditions of the people are different under the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat leadership where from birth until death the people receive welfare benefits.

“The view that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is unable to government the country cannot be accepted at all because we have proven it in Selangor.

“Selangor is not only the major contributor to the national GDP but we also take care of the welfare of the people starting from birth until death through MES (Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor) programmes.

“UNlike Umno-BN where from birth disposable diapers are charged the GST and when one dies, the shroud and coffin are also charged the GST,” he said during the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) session this evening.

Malaysia begins implementing the GST today at a rate of 6 percent.

“I do not know how our friends from Selangor BN can support the implementation of the GST which will certainly pressure the people from all levels.

“It is a sign that BN is digging its own grave,” he said while reading several daily necessities that are also charged the tax.
