“We are confident that Wan Azizah is able to assume duties as the Opposition Leader in the next Dewan Rakyat session,” he told reporters today.

The PKR Deputy President also dismissed speculation that he is more qualified for the position and said that it has been exaggerated by the media.

He also welcomed the statement by the PAS Whip Chief, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, regarding the party’s support towards Wan Azizah.

“We believe that she can continue the duties and responsibilities well because at the time many issues are being discussed such as economics, education, security, and so on,” he said.

Wan Azizah replaced Anwar who was sentenced in the Defamation 2 case as the Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament when she won the seat in the by-election on May 7.
