SHAH ALAM, 17 Apr: Families of victims jailed for 10 months for being involved in the rally to protest the Perak coup in 2009 received attention from the Selangor government.
Selangor Exco, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, visited the family of Bad Latif Mansor, who was represented by his wife, Nashita Md Noor.
Iskandar was accompanied by the Gombak Setia Assemblyman, Hasbullah Ridzwan, to donate RM1,000 to Bad Latif’s family.
Nashita, when contacted, was overwhelmed with the concern shown by Iskandar, who represented the Selangor government, and the delegation visited the family, in addition to asking about her family’s current situation.
“We feel lucky and relieved because of our fate of becoming victims to the injustice of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government which imprisoned our husbands which received attention and care from representatives of the Selangor leadership and also many others.
“This adds to our strength to hold steadfast and strong and continue our fight for our husbands,” she told Selangor Kini.
She also informed that Iskandar’s delegation also visited the family of Shidahtul Sabtu, the wife of Zulhaizam Zulkifli, in Pandan Insah and gave the same donation.
When asked about the developments of her husband, she informed that they are all healthy and remain strong in continuing their fight.
Bad Latif, along with 11 others, were sentenced to 10 months in prison from March 18.
She also informed that 10 out of the 12 detainees were transferred to the Tapah Prison.
Since being detained, she only had the opportunity to visit her beloved husband twice.
“God-willing, we will be allowed to visit our husbands this Sunday. The prison set it so that families can only visit them once a month,” she said.
