Cost to repair schools hit by storm is RM400,000

SHAH ALAM, 14 Apr: The state government has estimated that the cost to repair the Sungai Manggis Integrated Religious Primary School (SRAI) and the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Upper Secondary Religious School (SAMTTAR) in Kuala Langat, which was hit by a storm on April 12, to be RM400,000.

The Exco for Religious Affairs, Malay Customs Committee, Rural Development and Traditional Villages, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, said that immediate action will be taken and the reparation work will be carried out by the Kuala Langat Public Works Department (JKR).

“I and the Jais Director have conducted a survey yesterday and the reparation cost is estimated to be around RM400,000.

“God-willing, immediate action will be taken in the near future to replace the entire roof of the block involved.

“The Kuala Langat JKR has taken action for temporary reparation,” he told Selangor Kini.

The storm blew off the roofs of the two schools, in addition to damaging equipment.

It is understood that no student was injured and clean-up work in the school areas have been carried out.
