CM: 1,023 registered for the Datum Jelatek Project, high compensation given

SHAH ALAM, 7 Apr: The Datum Jelatek project received high demand from the Bumiputera community when 1,023 registered for the apartment units even though only 50 percent were offered.

The Chief Minster, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that a total of 230 applicants are locals living at Jalan Enggang, Taman Keramat.

“It shows that they are happy with the construction of the residential units and long-term investment,” said Mohamed Azmin (PKR-Bukit Antarabangsa) during the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) session today.

Mohamed Azmin said that they paid higher compensation to the owners of homes and businesses although there were some individuals who took the case to court.

“For them to own homes, those purchased in 1970 at RM19,000 we compensated 32 owners with RM250,000 to RM300,000, meanwhile for the nine owners challenged us in court and lost, we paid them RM130,000 to RM165,000.

“For business owners, we paid RM450,000 to RM500,000 cash, while those who challenged us, we paid RM155,000 to RM197,000.

“For tenants at the bazaar lot, we paid a compensation of RM24,000,” he said.

The RM1.2 billion Datum Jelatek project which began in 2008 on 2.4 hectares of land adjacent to the Jelatek LRT Station involves four luxury condominium blocks, a hotel, offices and a shopping complex.

The project received planning permission since November 2011 from the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ), but was delayed due to several issues.
