Prepare a new site before demolishing the Taman Ehsan Public Market

SHAH ALAM, 1 Apr: Prepare a new business site for the Malay traders in Taman Ehsan before demolishing it, stressed Mohd Khairuddin Othman (PAS-Paya Jaras).

He said that traders are not against development but the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) must be fair and responsible.

“They are being driven out for the development of large contractors and yesterday, they received a notice to vacate the premises.

“MPS is being asked to review the notice because we do not agree for traders to leave until there is a new place.

“If this is not done, I will personally be there when the demolition is in progress,” he said during the debate session this morning.

Khairuddin said that there are 33 traders who have been conducting business at the place, which is said to be the only Malay food court in the area.

At the same time, Khairuddin expressed his disappointment that MPS failed to respect the principles previously achieved.

“Previously, we said that we disagreed for it to be demolished before a new site is prepared, but the notice was finally issued.

“So what is our role? Is it to laugh or for views to be taken into account,” he said in disappointment.
