SHAH ALAM, 18 Mar: The Taman Tun Teja Mosque, Rawang, construction process is going smoothly and is now in the process of finalising the design before the tender is opened in August.
The Exco for Religious Affairs, Malay Customs, Rural and Traditional Village Development, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, said today that the project was not suspended as reported by a media.
“It is just that early in 2014, there were some issues about the site because there were residents who wanted the mosque site to be moved to Taman Pelangi. After several meetings, the residents agreed to keep the original site.
“So, the site is no longer an issue. Now, it is in the process of finalising the design by the Public Works Department and I expect that in August the project tender will be opened to interested parties..
“In addition to the solved site issue, there are no other issues, including the change of the Exco,” he told Selangor Kini.
Dr Ahmad Yunus said that the Rawang Assemblyman, Gan Pei Nei, who was involved in the meetings with the residents also confirmed that an agreement has been reached.
He said that the cost of the project will be known as soon as the design of the mosque is finalised.
“Typically, the construction of a mosque would cost RM6 million to RM8 million, but it depends on the design,” he said.
Previously, a media reported that the status of the Taman Tun Teja Mosque construction proposal is still suspended and has raised a lot of questions among the residents.
