MDKL: RM2,000 compound for illegal dumping

SHAH ALAM, 27 Feb: The Kuala Langat District Council (MDKL) will not compromise with offenders who perform illegal dumping in the area under their supervision.

The Yang DiPertua of MDKL, Mohd Azhar Mohamed Ali, said that the maximum compound is up to RM1,000 or court fines with a maximum amount of RM2,000 await those who commit the offence.

He said that the action is taken under the provisions of the Garbage Collection and Disposal By-Law (MDKL) 2007 and the Prevention of Dirtiness By-law (MDKL) 1994.

“The public are expected to provide support to maintain the beauty of the surrounding area by not recklessly throwing rubbish in areas they should not.

“Remember to throw and dispose waste properly,” he said in a press statement.

Elaborating, Azhar said that the MDKL Urban and Environmental Services Department is constantly monitoring and ensuring that solid waste collection, drain cleaning and grass cutting is done periodically according to schedule.

MDKL also has the ‘Waste Gang’ that is involved in helping cleaning and to take immediate action on public complaints received related to waste.
