SHAH ALAM, 3 Mar: The Local Authority Select Committee (JPPBT) will review the decision by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to award a three-month bonus to its employees.

The Bukit Gasing Assemblyman, who is also a member of the JPPBT, R.Rajiv, said that the committee, among others, will look into a number of things, including the evaluation mechanism for each employee of the local authority.

“How can over 90 percent of employees be rated outstanding by receiving evaluation marks above 80 percent.

“We want to ensure that the element of favouritism is not a deciding factor in the assessment made, instead it is based on actual achievement,” he said in a statement.

Apart from Rajiv, the JPPBT also comprises of Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (Kajang), Dr Abd Rani Osman (Meru), Dr Halimah Ali (Selat Kelang), Ng Tien Chee (Balakong) and Halimaton Saadiah Bohan (Kota Damansara), and chaired by Dr Idris Ahmad (Ijok),

Elaborating, Rajiv said that he does not oppose the granting of bonuses as an incentive to employees, but it must be done in a transparent manner.

“Analysis must also be done on how MBPJ and other local authorities’ aspirations can improve the quality of service through accurate assessment on their employees,” he said.
