Lack of facilities, HTAR had to move dengue patients

SHAH ALAM, 17 Feb: The Tengku Ampuah Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang had to move their dengue patients to other hospitals to accommodate the ever increasing number.

The Selangor Health Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that some patients were transferred to the Banting Hospital and the Sungai Buloh Hospital following the density experienced by HTAR.

“We admit the the Klang Hospital (HTAR) is too crowded to accommodate the increasing number of dengue patients. The state government is waiting for the Shah Alam Hospital to be fully completed to cope with this congestion.

“In addition, we are also waiting for the construction of the Kapar Hospital. Undoubtedly, the facilities that can be given are relatively limited for dengue patients, however we cannot avoid the problem, especially at the Klang Hospital,” she said when contacted by Selangor Kini.

Recently, the congestion at HTAR was due to a lack of beds to a point where the wards that originally had 20 beds were increased to 40 beds to accommodate the needs of dengue patients.
