Selangor donates sewing machine, ensure that Perak flood victims do not lose income

PASIR SALAK, 19 Jan: The family of a flood victim in Kampung Pasir Putih was helped by acquiring a new sewing machine, as the old one was damaged by the recent floods.

The Exco for Health, Welfare, Women’s and Family Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that this was decided immediately by the Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, when he assisted in the cleaning of the family’s home.

“They complained that the sewing machine used to earn a living could not be used anymore and the Chief Minister, who heard the complaint, immediately asked me to arrange for the Selangor government to buy a new sewing machine,” said Dr Daroyah to Selangor Kini.

Dr Daroyah explained that apart from income sources as security guards, tailoring is also one of the family’s sources of income.

“Her husband works as a security guard. They have six children. Some are studying at universities, secondary schools and primary schools, with relatively high expenses.

“Prior to this, the received a lot of tailoring orders, but they had to stop now because their sewing machine was damaged. With this help, they can continue sewing to earn a living,” added Dr Daroyah.
