1.5 million users expected to use highways tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, 2 Feb: The North-South Expressway from north heading towards the capital is expected to experience congestion in conjunction with the Thaipusam celebration tomorrow.

The Deputy Senior Manager of PLUS Malaysia Berhad’s Corporate Communications Department, Iskandar Zulkifli, said that about 1.5 million users are expected to use the highway today and tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) said that the traffic at tolled highways around the Klang Valley, Kuala Lumpur-Karak and the East Coast Highway remains smooth and controllable today.

The Gombak Police Chief, ACP Ali Ahmad, said that among the routes closed in conjunction with Thaipusam tomorrow are Jalan Perusahaan, Bulatan Batu Caves from Selayang and the Middle Ring Road Two entering Batu Caves.

He said that the traffic situation in the area is still under control so far.
