SHAH ALAM, 26 Dec: The Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, asked the people to stop spreading false news that there are supposedly cracks and reparation work being carried out at the Batu Dam.
The dissemination through Whatsapp and other social media sites state that supposedly the works have caused the dam to be opened to reduce water.
Instead, Mohamed Azmin said that the dam, which is being supervised by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), is in good condition.
“I ask for the false news to be stopped because it can create a situation of disharmony among the people and cause concern,” he said during a media conference this morning.
He said that the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur DID Office has confirmed that there was no water release at the dam on December 25 and 26.
The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur DID Office also confirmed that there are no cracks or any repairs as alleged.
