Flood relief: Four factors that make Selangor an exemplary state

SHAH ALAM, 20 Jan: Four main management factors make Selangor an exemplary state in the post-flood relief mission, said the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Shuhaimi Shafiei.

First, as the Sri Muda Assemblyman, is the speed of providing aid to disaster areas by making the most critical area a priority.

“Second, we worked together more closely, in an orderly manner with organised schedules as a guide for all agencies, associations or non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that were led by only one party.

“No matter where the assistance was from, we left it to one party to go to the disaster area with coordination at the state level before going to the states involved.

“The matter of specialisation of tasks is very important for the process of raising funds, equipment and other assistance to be channelled more effectively.

“This made the aid mission more organised, more integrated and no overlapping direction,” he told Selangor Kini.

He was among the Selangor leaders who managed the flood aid in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Perak, with the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, recently.

Thirdly, Shuhaimi said that Selangor had detailed information on the areas that needed more help for the priority was given to the most critical area.

“Fourth, when in the face of disaster, we need to reject political affiliation. The human factor should be placed at the top without thinking about publicity and political interests,” he said.
