Selangor contributes RM332,550 to churches, Christian charity organisations

PETALING JAYA, 14 Dec: A total of 31 churches and Christian charity organisations throughout Selangor received donations between RM5,000 and RM25,000 to conduct their respective activities.

The overall contribution amounting to RM332,550 was presented by the Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, during the Selangor State Christmas Open House which was held at Encorp Strand Mall in Kota Damansara last night.

Meanwhile, when officiating the event, Mohamed Azmin said that the move to return the Bibles to the Christian community is not a political move.

“We practice tolerance and we need to respect the diversity and sensitivity of religious beliefs.

“So as soon as I was given the mandate to lead Selangor, I believed that the Bibles must be returned to the Christian community and this is not for political reasons but because of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) belief that these Bibles must be returned.

“Alhamdulillah, I am proud to say today that we delivered on this promise and returned the 351 Bibles to the Christian community,” said Mohamed Azmin in front of about 1,000 attendees who attended the Open House.

He added that the people should refrain from bring up any conflict or prejudice between us.

On the other hand, Mohamed Azmin explained that religious and cultural diversity is the strength of a pluralistic community in ensuring harmony and unity.
