SHAH ALAM, 7 Dec: The Selangor Microcredit Scheme (SkimSel) financing which was introduced by the state government has successfully helped the majority of traders increase their income, thus further developing their businesses.
The traders met by Selangor Kini are satisfied with the funding provided and consider the scheme as the right step towards helping the target group enjoy a better life.
Rosminy Zainol, 40, said that the jute string handicraft business she has been running has developed with the funding received, in addition to the guidance given by the management of SkimSel towards the success.
“Now I want to advance my business towards being bigger and to venture into a new area which is food stalls and rabbit breeding.
“SkimSel is a good scheme towards helping small time traders grow their businesses,” said Rosminy from Kampung Permatang, Kuala Selangor.
Rosminy said this after receiving a RM20,000 funding from the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, during the Perangsang-SkimSel Entrepreneur Carnival (KAWAN) 2014 at the Giant Mall in Kemuning Utama yesterday.
Rosminy has been receiving SkimSel funding for the past four years, involving financing of RM3,000 and RM10,000, and has the capability to repay the assistance with the success she has achieved.
Meanwhile, Rus Mawar Abdul Manan, 58, from Taman Semenyih Jaya, said that she has been operating a local product direct sales business where she started as a distributor and has now successfully become a stockist.
She said that she was able to build a better business network through the larger capital through the SkimSel financing.
“With this, we can plan and develop a better and more effective business system to achieve the desired target.
“SkimSel has helped me a lot to develop and grow my business,” said Rus who was promoting herbal coffee drinks, cordials and teh tarik from Al-Jannah Global Marketing.
Rus Mawar also received a funding of RM20000 and has now expanded her business by venturing into sugarcane farming to increase her income since she received the assistance four years ago.
