SHAH ALAM, 1 Dec: The state government has no plans to provide special provisions for waste management in village areas, said the Executive Councillor for Local Government, Legalising Illegal Factories and New Village Development, Ean Yong Hian Wah.
Instead, village heads can use the annual allocation of RM10 thousand from the state government to hold clean-up programmes like a gotong-royong.
“This is because the maintenance work in areas such as villages has been structured, like the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) which has appointed contractors for domestic waste collection through open tenders.
“In addition, there are also local authorities that provides garbage bins at strategic locations in village areas near local authority roads to facilitate local authority waste trucks,” he said in reply to a verbal question from Razaly Hassan (PAS-Dusun Tua) during the Selangor State Assembly session today.
In addition, Ean also encouraged Assemblymen to participate in organising gotong-royong programmes with Council Members, Village Heads and the residents for the sake of village cleanliness.
