Job Placement, Job Enhancement gives PWDs opportunity to showcase talent

SHAH ALAM, 31 Dec: The Selangor government is planning the Job Placement and Job Enhancement programme to help people with disabilities (PWDs) have their own income.

The Exco for Women’s Affairs and Welfare, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that the programme will provide opportunities to PWDs to demonstrate expertise and talent in a particular field.

She said that PWDs should first need to know their abilities despite their disabilities.

“For example, those interested in culinary arts will be given training and skills in culinary.

“After the end of the course, they will be given accreditation and will be placed in a suitable company that requires such services.

“With this, PWDs can generate income and contribute ideas, energy and skills. This will thereby develop themselves for the sake of survival,” she said, adding the the programme will be implemented in stages.

She said this when opening the ‘Kau Yang Teristimewa’ (You are the most special) appreciation ceremony at Holiday Villa today.

At the same time, Daroyah said that the Selangor government, in phases, will improve infrastructural facilities such as parking lots and toilets for PWD at government departments and agencies.

“The vehicle sticker programme will also be continued and can be obtained at any local authority.

“The Selangor government has also formulated an awareness programme for the public to understand and believe that PWDs are also capable of contributing to the family, community, state and country,” he said.
