SABAK BERNAM, 18 Dec: The ban by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, on the use of the word ‘Allah’ among the non-Muslims remains.
The Exco for Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs, Rural Development and Traditional Villages, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, said that the prohibition of using the word ‘Allah’ should not be made an issue because the decision has been made to not cause difficulties among the community.
“We have a religious leader who is the Sultan of Selangor and there are enactments in Selangor.
“We uphold the decree of the Sultan where non-Muslims are not allowed to use the ‘Allah’ word,” he said.
He was also asked to comment of the statement by the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, regarding the statement by the Chief Minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, recently.
“That is another issue,” said Ahmad Yunus who is also the Selangor PAS Treasurer.
The media reported that Mohamed Azmin reiterated Pakatan Rakyat’s stand which allows the use of the word ‘Allah’ by non-Muslims.
