CM: Anwar is capable of contributing to economic growth

SHAH ALAM, 28 Nov: The state government is confident that the Selangor Economic Advisor, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will be able to provide a significant contribution to the economic growth in Selangor.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the state government also appreciates Anwar’s role in attracting foreign investors to this state.

He said that the decision to shut down the office of the Opposition Leader previously was dubious and dishonest.

“All this while, the services provided by him (Anwar) was free, the provisions prepared was not in the form of salary or allowance.

“But the provisions given was based on programmes to be implemented,” he said during the State Assembly session today.

On November 25, Opposition Leader Datuk Mohd Shamsudin Lias, during the debate session, suggested for the State Government to shut down the office of the Selangor Economic Advisor for good.

He said that Anwar’s role does not benefit Selangor because the expenditure for the office management wastes the people’s money.

The Selangor Economic Advisor’s Officer was established in 2009 and was placed under Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) which is responsible for utilising Anwar’s experience and expertise in economy and finance as the former Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister.

Prior to this, the state government agreed for the Selangor State Economic Advisor’s Office at Plaza Perangsang to be shut down.

It was effective immediately in order to save administrative costs of the state government.
