KLANG, 17 Oct: The Executive Councillor in charge of Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneurship, Amirudin Shari, hopes that the state government will approve an allocation of RM4.45 million to repair the Pandamaran Hockey Stadium here.

“It is hoped that this suggestion can be approved in the Budget 2015 which will be presented in November.

“We will use it as soon as possible (if approved) in ensuring that this stadium can be used, thus strengthening the hockey squad development programme and making it one of the destinations in organising hockey squads,” he said.

Amiruddin said this to reporters when visiting the Pandamaran Hockey Stadium here today.

Also present was the Selangor Hockey Association President, Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal, the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) Director of Engineering, Zamri Othman, and the Selangor State Sports Council (MSN) Executive Director Shamdul Shahril Badliza Mohd Noor.

Commenting further, he said that through the provisions, the 20-year-old stadium can go through upgrading works for amenities, the roof, seats and the field carpet.

“The dire need is the field carpet. So we will put the works to change the field carpet first, followed by the rest.

“This to ensure that the changing of the field carpet will meet the specifications of the Federation International Hockey (FIH). We call on the Selangor Hockey Association to advise us,” he explained.

For the record, since it was built in 1984 the Pandamaran Hockey Stadium only changed the field carpet in 1998.
