CM: Application by residents of Pulau Ketam to obtain the Temporary Occupancy Licence being considered

PULAU KETAM, 17 Oct: The state government will consider the application by the residents of Pulau Ketam to obtain the Temporary Occupancy Licence (TOL) because they have been living on the island for a long time.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the appropriate decision will be made regarding the matter for the residents of the island.

“We will study this matter because the almost 1,200 residents have been living on this island for almost 100 years.

“They have submitted the application to obtain the TOL. We will consider it,” he said during a media conference after visiting the island today.

Azmin said that Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad (KDEB) and Worldwide Holdings Berhad (Worldwide) are also responsible to handle the garbage pollution there.

He said that this is because when it is overcome, the tourist industry can be increased with the presence of many tourists during the weekends.

“We will also study the application by the residents regarding the TOL for fish cage pool activities. This is based on the new guidelines, as well as the State Fisheries Department and the District and Land Office.

“The problem of the Pulau Ketam jetty will also be given attention because its location can no longer accommodate the many visitors. The state government and the central government will look into this need,” he said.
