Abdul Khalid: “New CM has to prioritise administration over self-interests, family”

SHAH ALAM, 2 Sept: The duties and responsibilities as the Chief Minister of Selangor is not an easy task but demands a lot of sacrifice, including self-interest and family.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that prioritising the responsibilities of an administrator to the people compared to one’s own family is in line with the 3K concept; transparency, accountability and competency, features required by a Chief Minister.

“I remember that the three concepts that are most important are transparency, accountability and competency. So, whoever leads Selangor must accept transparency.

“This means that the people can ask questions and learn about the ins and outs of planning and implementation. Selangor, prior to 2008, carried out efforts and work in secret, but to determine the success of Selangor, transparency is paramount. The people monitor the leader at all times.

“Second is of course competency. Competency shows what a leader is capable of. Leaders who are willing to sacrifice their families by prioritising administration for the people rather than for themselves and their families. Lastly is of course a leader who is accountable. They have to be accountable for their decisions and accountable for the results of implementation,” said Abdul Khalid.

Abdul Khalid said this to Selangor Kini in a special interview in conjunction with the Independence Day at the Selangor Chief Minister’s Office last Friday.

Prior to this, Abdul Khalid faced His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor to receive the Sultan’s consent for his resignation as Chief Minister.

However, HRH the Sultan of Selangor postponed Abdul Khalid’s resignation until a new Chief Minister is appointed.
