SHAH ALAM, 2 Sept: 26 Selangor youth who got married this year received the Selangor Youth Wedding Incentive of RM500 per person from the Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
Among the recipients of this incentive, Janaki a/p Subramaniam, 29, considers this grant as a sign of concern from the State Government under the administration of Abdul Khalid.
“The State Government’s performance these six years is pretty attentive towards issues concerning the people’s welfare, including the youth, where this grant helps alleviate the burden of newly married youth a little.
“Especially as current wedding expenses are on the rise, but with the assistance of RM1,000, it helps us as a newlywed couple a little,” said Janaki, who lives in Klang, to Selangor Kini.
Janaki and her husband, who is also a citizen of Selangor, received the Selangor Youth Wedding Incentive totaling RM1,000.
Meanwhile, technician of a private company, Surenthiran a/l Kaniappan, 29, said that such incentives should be continued to prove the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor as the Selangor State administration policy.
“It is very different from the past. Now, all sorts of programmes are in place to ensure that the people of Selangor enjoy the prosperity of the State of Selangor.
“But the question is that we cannot just wait at the door of our homes and blame the government to obtain benefits from programmes we are entitled to. Promotions have been done and we have to find out or at least ask at the offices of Assemblymen,” he said.
A trader, Mohd Najmi Hashim, 43, said that only administrators who are concerned with integrity are able to increase state reserves and provide aid to the people.
“If administrators are not trustworthy, can public funds be increased, because it is certain that the funds will be spent on a whim. My mistake was that the reserves have reduced, but I did not know where welfare and infrastructure development has gone,” said Mohd Najmi.
